something about orcs?

Today is positively dreary and so dark outside. I got up early (not too long after finally falling asleep, actually) and Julie picked me up and we went to Caribou. I learned lately that light roast coffee actually contains more caffeine than dark roasts, although dark roasts have a stronger flavor, and today i decided that that is true. I got a medium Fair Trade, which happened to be a light roast, and i drank less than half and then they filled it up for me before we left, and i finished the cup. So maybe 20 ounces altogether? Maybe a bit more. But anyway i am now very shaky and jittery and a few times had the "feeling" emotion-not-really kind of thing i get sometimes. So i drank some water and decided to make lunch even though i didn't feel hungry. We had chicken noodle soup and i ate a bagel with cream cheese, and i have jumped way ahead of my narrative of the day. Church was nice; i like going to the early service because there's so much more time to reflect and pray and worship than in the later service, which is rather more program-based. We invented our winter version of the lollipop gang, "the coat gang" which is not quite so creative sounding, is it? But we all have lovely coats, so that's why.

So i got home and put my PJs right on, the ones Tomomi gave me, and my new cute pink slippers!!!♥♥ And then i thought my camera was broken, but it worked after i put the memory card back in (there's a weird picture of the inside of Best Buy on the camera's own memory that was taken i think before i bought the camera, and i don't think i can delete it) and i took some poupee photos but after my coffee they're probably all super blurry from shaky hands. I'll have some tea i think but i'd better stay away from green and i don't feel like decaf black so i guess that leaves me with rooiboos....or perhaps some herbal tea gramma had in there. Yeah i'll have that. I remember when i was in middle school and first trying to drink tea, we had a number of boxes of celestial seasonings tea and there was one that was...something sunset and i really liked it but i've never seen it since then. Almond perhaps? I can vaguely recall the box...but only vaguely.

I started reading Anne of Green Gables the other night for the first time. Anne reminds me of Hannah a little, but much more talkative...and the copy of the book i have is very interesting. it has an intriguing inscription in the front (it's used) which makes it seem much cooler. It's only intriguing because i know (now) whose it was...so that's fun and pretend-mysterious.

Are Lucky Packs coming soon again? I wonder.

I had an interesting Lord of the Rings related illustration pop into my head during church, i'm going to go take a picture of my lotion and try to remember it.

Nu ladno.

Well.
Baby put some new stuff up today, including a hat, a veily thing, and the JSK i have in red that i bought from someone else. I love my JSK but i guess it would be a bit excessive to have it in multiple colors...i should get a slightly different style probably. Mine is so great though.
My car isn't working. Subaru? Bicycle? Walking shoes? Tomorrow i have to get it towed to my third cousin's house.
It's awful late...how did it get so late? I painted my nails.
I need to buy...i can't spell it so i'll let it remain a mystery. Haha.

If you insist...

Dear Blog,

Today was Sunday, and it was cold and gray -- perfectly seasonable, even if not quite pleasant. I like to look out the window or take walks and come home for tea on days when the sky is gray and dark and the wind is blowing the tree tops around and the leaves are rustling; but today's gray was more the type when you don't really see anything all day. It's dark so fast, but it was never really all that light to begin with. The one thing i did see was the tree right outside the church, out the front door (that is, the one facing the road). It's a very nice tree and i have taken it's picture before, perhaps in the winter. I think it's yellow now but i can't say for sure. I think also that i noticed the tree across the street from our house when i first went out this morning, but that may have been yesterday. It's odd to look back on the day and realize that i can't really recall any colors. It's like reviewing a dream and trying to remember if i noticed the color of anything in my dream, not really sure if i dream in black-and-white or not. (But i think i might know the color of something in a dream, whether or not i could actually see the color. I always knew Smurfs were blue, even when i only watched them on a black-and-white television.)

After church i had to have a very long and serious talk with the girls about why it is wrong to kidnap Indian pastors, or even Indian lay-people, or for that matter NON-Indian pastors. (I guess that leaves non-Indian lay-people free for abduction.) Ok we really didn't talk about that at all. But we did go out for tea, where we discussed topics that 16-year-old girls and people like me always discuss, like how we would decorate a tea shop if we were to inherit one.

Lately my favorite song has been "Razzle Dazzle Rose." I think it has been out for quite a long time because i remember seeing the name, and maybe it was on their myspace or something, but i'm not real good about bothering to listen to new songs unless there's some reason i should (like if someone says to me "listen to this song"). Oh well.

Good night Blog.

hallowednesdate

I just saw a spaghetti sauce commercial with Baby Spice in it.

Gramma accidentally turned the speaker off on her TV and was most frustrated by it (i suppose that's why she was "monkeying around with it" when i called her from the station last night) so when i turned it back on, she rejoiced and threw her arms around me. hehe. Now she's watching Smallville.

Yesterday i rode with Mrs. Martin (sadly making her late; i still feel bad) and then went to the physics lecture and read The Message in the Hollow Oak and learned that whistles are indeed good items for a detective to have on hand. I got the wonderful candy bag and ate the halloween sushi and made the spooky fattoush and the autumn squash and took a walk around the haunted neighborhood. I was so happy.

And it was stormy and i took the midnight train home!! (actually it left around 10 but was still on a track somewhere at midnight so can i call it that?) It was the halloween dream.

victorian posse

So today i made pancakes then drank tea for a while and worked on our little nancy project, and then talked to my mom for a few minutes and went to the grocery store. I went over to Hannah's for more tea and sweets and brainstorming help and got to witness Hannah's mom getting acquainted with an Insane Clown.

After i came home i made chili and Gramma ate a good sized cup of it, then i took a bowl over to Laura and traded back cars. I sat and watched TV with them for a while i hope they didn't mind.

When i came home i moved my computer back to my room (i had it in the kitchen) and dropped my camera. I thought "what's going to break this time?" and then i turned it on and Lo!! The display works again!! It hasn't worked in so long that i figured it was gone for good, so i was very surprised and happy! I enjoyed taking pictures of the few brand items i haven't taken pictures of, and a few accessories... it's so much nicer to take pictures of things when you can see if the picture turned out well right away (especially since my flash doesn't work either). I realize that i could NEVER see the picture immediately (excepting polaroids) until i got my digital camera a year and a half ago, but when i used film i certainly wasn't taking pictures of every item in my wardrobe.

So that was my day. Tomorrow i have to work early. Ugh early/yum coffee.

can't wait for wednesdate

It's come to my attention that i have not updated my blog in a number of days. I'm so sorry.
I've just finished eating sweet potato fries and chicken nuggets.
I have worked and babysat.
This weekend i took a raburii trip to the country and saw a goats for sale sign, ate Chinese food, watched an old movie about Chinese food (ok it's not exactly about Chinese food) and sat in the sun for a long time.
Now i need to find a shell on sale for only 5 ribbons, then i can visit shell spring. Yay!

i love Janna's very devious look in the GRIM alley picture, and Brianna looks so menacing. In the cheerful alley they both look...um...crazy.

gramma says she's hopping into bed with george michael

I worked the morning shift, then got bubble tea with Lanka (after a little Japanese lesson). I also bought a beret. We arrived to youth group hearing shouts of "traitor! traitor!"

Today i wore my Holiday&Music hoodie, a plaid skirt, black+gray OTK socks, and my my Japanese newspaper Vans. Quite the Melissa-default outfit for a time. But, now wearing sneakers with a skirt looked pretty weird to me, though it used to be my usual way. Loli has adjusted my shoe perception it seems. I even had on my old red Skechers for a while but they're really just too far gone to work with lace-topped stockings and a fairly neat skirt.

As much as i want these and these and these (sigh) and these, i really probably ought to get new tennis shoes.

BABY's got a new coat. I like that print but holy cow it's expensive.
I know, i know, small group. I'm really just making a point about tennis shoes.

she IS still here!

I want to write something in here but i'm struggling with having anything to say. I went to work and a lady took a photo of our cafe. And i went home and went to sleep. And i woke up and wrote the story and then Hannah and Laura called and told me to come over right now and i said NO! and they said YES and i said is there food? and they said yes and i said ok so i did and i ate too many marshmallows and painted my nails and we played with gel pens and listened to music and utilized glue sticks.

crazy sunset dolly..??

Today started badly. Actually it started with a low-quality version of "E-mail More" by Tommy February6 (sorry for the random anime video but that's the song) and i realized that my boss was calling me, and then that it was almost SEVEN and i was supposed to call her at 5:30. :( So we had a bad morning...

But the day got better and it was fairly busy. I did a long stupid survey and took a bath this afternoon so i wouldn't fall asleep and then went to youth group. It was fun but a little, oh, on the hyper side? However we did get the chance to try out, i think, every single Dodgeball Avoidance technique defined to date. Only i was a bit of a traitor and made Hannah and Janna come back after they made a rather nice escape early on in the game time. However it was amusing that both sets of twins were pitted against each other during the first game.

I'm sleepy.

lunes

Today i ran errands, made happier by a latte a paycheck and the fact that everything at the bank (where i had a bit of a dispute) went as well as could be imagined. Yay! So then i went to the other bank to do normal business and back home. I quite forgot that i had planned to do some housework today and was largely unproductive at home, except for a few letters i finally wrote and a phone call (in relation to the bank trouble).

My cousin just left; he brought Gramma some Burger King and they visited for quite a while. Hmmm...a really good milkshake sounds good right now. Maybe i'll get a bowl of ice cream. Do you think i could make a milkshake without a blender? I wonder...it'd have to be vanilla i guess...

crema

Today my boss came in with the cutest little espresso cups -- ok, pretty much all espresso cups are undeniably cute -- but these have HEART-SHAPED saucers. They are darling.

I had to work beginning at 6 am, and i can't remember the last time i was up at 6 am (except maybe still up) so that was a little challenge. Getting up really wasn't that bad, because i woke with a shocked and panicked "am i supposed to be at work already what time is it??" at 5:30 and didn't dare get back in bed. But then, despite the very many coffees i had, i napped all afternoon.

Today is Lori Schmidt's birthday. Happy birthday Lori, wherever you are. And i think it's maybe not Schmidt anymore. (I remember her phone number too haha. I don't even know my Mom's phone number now.)

Hannah's petticoat story has given me a random idea to hold a writing contest, i guess among the l.g.? I haven't really thought out the details yet. I thought the grand prize should be a petticoat in honor of the story from which the idea came but i can't really afford one at the moment, even from In the Starlight. Hmm.

But, how do you "pour it out unto the Lord?"

let's go where we're happy

Starbucks of course:

hannah can go from entirely bored to quite amused/ing with nothing but a straw wrapper (and probably the coffee helped)

this is largely a tale of hello kitty murder, but i also think it's worth noting that although brianna criticized hannah for always holding the coffee cup next to her head in photos, i certainly have more than one picture of brianna in this very same cup-and-straw pose.

my gun didn't work out so well so i drew a cannon. poor kitty-chan.

and at last, she was eaten by a bear. i'm shocked!! or applauding!!

then brianna and hannah went through the gates to another dimension.

me with cannon (kitty's revenge, perhaps?), bri with building, baby land :( we all cried

and then i got lost, so bri and hannah cried some more.
but we never found what we were looking for, so we decided to kidnap laura.

she was bewildered, but had no choice but to accompany us on our new mission: stickers. we, in turn, were bewildered when laura chose to go to the korean grocery store over BORDERS, and we were all four of us bewildered when instead of finding stickers we found that yellow thing (and the red one and the black one and the...other one).

but then laura had to go home, so we decided to go to borders (1 of 2) anyway and got a soda. and we saw stacie! but she is not pictured. and we finally found what we were looking for (1 of 3, at least).
